Delta Firefighters Charitable Society fulfills their final $25,000 towards Commitment of $100,000 in support of Delta Hospital

January 31, 2020

The Delta Firefighters Charitable Society recently fulfilled their final installment of $25,000 towards their $100,000 commitment to Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation. Each and every dollar of this incredible gift has come directly from the Delta Firefighters members’ pay cheques through a voluntary pay cheque deduction program.

In recognition of this remarkable donation, a room in the Peter C. and Elizabeth Toigo Diagnostic Services Building, opening this spring, will be named the ‘Delta Firefighters Radiography Room’.

The new diagnostic services building will house the Medical Imaging and Laboratory departments which are vital services to all areas of our hospital. The building will more than double the size and capability of both of these departments at Delta Hospital.

“We are so appreciative of the support that the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society gives to Delta Hospital and to our community,” says Lisa Hoglund, Executive Director at Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation.  “We are humbled that their members chose to donate directly from their pay cheques and we are honoured to recognize their gift in the new building.”

“We are extremely proud of this initiative and happy to support the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation and the new expansion at Delta Hospital,” says John Burr, President, Delta Firefighters Charitable Society.

The Delta Firefighters Charitable Society is 100% volunteer run and organized and is comprised of 190 career firefighters. They are longtime supporters of Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation, contributing over $500,000 since their founding in 1994. Their heartfelt support has often extended to the Foundation’s signature events such as Golf and Gala, through generous sponsorship, the provision of auction items, and in providing event day volunteer support.
