Community Unlocks Jim Pattison Matching Gift and Brings New Endoscopy Suite One Step Closer to Reality

The Final $355,000: Help Complete the Funding for the Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit.

Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation (DHCH Foundation) is celebrating a major milestone in its campaign to bring the new Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit to Delta Hospital. Thanks to overwhelming community support, the Foundation has successfully met the $1 million match challenge established by philanthropist Jim Pattison and is now just $355,000 away from reaching its $8 million fundraising goal.

The campaign was launched to fund a modern, purpose-built endoscopy suite that will help meet the growing healthcare needs of Delta’s aging and expanding population. Mobilization and infection control preparations are scheduled to begin in September 2026, with construction substantially complete by September 2027 and the new Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit expected to welcome its first patients in December 2027.

Other significant contributions have included gifts from the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society, the Delta Agricultural Society, East Delta Hall Pioneers, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 (Ladner), the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 289 (Tsawwassen), proceeds from Moonlight Gala 2025 and the Delta Health Classic 2026, as well as numerous generous individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations committed to strengthening healthcare close to home.

Once complete, the new Jim Pattison Endoscopy Unit will replace the hospital’s outdated endoscopy space and provide a modern environment designed to increase capacity, improve efficiency, and reduce wait times for critical procedures such as colonoscopies and gastroscopies. The facility will include advanced endoscopy technology, improved patient flow, dedicated procedure and recovery areas, and enhanced privacy for patients and families.

Early detection remains one of the most effective tools in the fight against colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal diseases. As demand for endoscopy services continues to grow, the expanded facility will help ensure patients can access timely diagnostic care without leaving the community.
