Delta Hospital Saved My Life

The care and attention I received at Delta Hospital was outstanding.” – Rick Lewall

When Rick Lewall collapsed on his kitchen floor, he thought he had fainted. In the process of packing up to head to the trailer, he had no idea what was happening. But moments later, he fell again. This time, he called out for his wife, Carlene, who called 911. That is the last thing Rick remembers at home.

A massive blood clot had migrated from his leg into his lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism.

When Rick arrived at Delta Hospital’s Emergency Department, nurses and doctors sprang into action with utmost speed and care. Rick had flat-lined, so they immediately called a CODE BLUE, administered a clot-busting drug, and gave Rick life-saving resuscitation all within a matter of minutes.

“You get into the hospital and you’re surrounded by the best,” Rick recalled.

The extraordinary emergency team at Delta Hospital saved Rick’s life. But they need your help to continue treating patients in their critical time of need.

Generous people like you help equip Delta Hospital with the essential medical equipment needed to deliver exceptional care for your community.

Your donation can help purchase essential items like trauma stretchers and patient temperature management systems, and support other urgent needs across Delta Hospital, Mountain View Manor, and Irene Thomas Hospice.

When you invest in the Delta Hospital Campus of Care, you’re not only funding new equipment, you’re building a healthier, stronger community.

Right now, it’s more important than ever to unite in support of Delta Hospital.

Travelling to another site takes time, time you definitely don’t have in an emergency. Having accessible healthcare services close to home relieves stress for patients and families.

Delta Hospital is the heart of our community. It’s the first place you go for critical, front-line treatment. That’s why it’s so important for everyone who lives here.

Because Delta Hospital was minutes away, and his medical team acted so quickly, Rick is back to enjoying life with his family – Carlene, their two children, and their five grandchildren. At 79, he’s healthy enough to take a trip to Japan with his grandson this year. He’s so grateful for the exceptional care that made this possible.

After Rick’s recovery, he made a special trip back to Delta Hospital to personally deliver gift baskets to the ER staff who saved his life. He also went a step further and supported the hospital with a generous donation through the last December’s holiday wish list.

I hope Rick’s story inspires you to support Delta Hospital, to ensure it continues to be is a pillar of essential care in our community.

Your donation will help Delta Hospital’s Emergency Department provide critical care for people in their moments of need. You’ll also strengthen health services offered all across the Delta Hospital Campus of Care.

Please give today to ensure a well-equipped hospital with outstanding care is ready to serve our community and save lives.

Thank you for your ongoing support. From all of us here at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care, we’re sending you our warmest wishes for a delightful Spring.

Sincerely,

Lisa Hoglund, CFRE

Executive Director
