The Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society (DHAS) has made a generous donation of $750,000 to the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation. This significant contribution will directly impact patient care by addressing critical equipment needs across multiple departments at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care.
Since 1969, the DHAS has been dedicated to providing volunteer services, patient comfort, and essential funding to Delta Hospital. With over 300 committed volunteers contributing nearly 60,000 hours annually, the DHAS has become one of British Columbia’s most successful hospital auxiliaries. Their entrepreneurial efforts, including the Dogwood Gift Shop, Courtyard Café, Delta Auxiliary Thrift Store, and Lifeline, have cumulatively raised over $17 million for healthcare initiatives at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care.
“We are honored to collaborate with the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society,” says Lisa Hoglund, Executive Director of the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation. “This remarkable gift will directly impact patient outcomes by providing critical equipment for Mountain View Manor, Irene Thomas Hospice, Cardiology, Surgical Services and the Emergency Department. We value our important partnership with the Auxiliary as we collectively strive to strengthen healthcare in our community.”
Jim Short, President of the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society, expresses gratitude for their devoted volunteers: “The present Auxiliary received the torch from those who went before us. The mission, to support patient care and comfort at Delta Hospital Campus of Care, was born with our founding members. It’s a privilege and joy to collectively make this large donation towards critical equipment needs that will enhance patient care. The hearts of our volunteers are directed towards this campus, and we hold the torch to pass onto future generations whom we need to continue our pursuit.
Cathy Wiebe, Executive Director of Delta and White Rock/South Surrey Health Services and Delta and Peace Arch Hospitals, acknowledges the impact of this support: “Support from Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society helps to ensure that patients at Delta Hospital receive the very best care. We appreciate the alignment between the Auxiliary and Foundation, which significantly enhances healthcare in our community.”
