The Caring for our Community Grant Program was created to extend DHCH Foundation’s impact on the health and wellbeing of the community of Delta.  

The 2025/2026 granting program will focus on youth and adult mental health and addictions initiatives. This program is intended to offer financial support to qualified organizations that promote mental well-being and offer addictions services for those living in the Delta community. These initiatives are essential in providing the best healthcare possible for our community, now and in the future.

Before submitting your application, please read the guidelines below for our Caring for our Community Grant Program thoroughly. This information will support your application process.

VISION: The best healthcare possible for our community today and for future generations.

DHCH Foundation’s Community Grant Program allows eligible organizations to apply for funding between $10,000 – $50,000.

Multi-year applications are accepted with a maximum term of 3 years.

Applications are accepted once a year through our online application tool. Only applications submitted via this portal will be reviewed.

  • Deadline to submit Letter of Intent (LOI) September 10, 2025
  • Anticipated notice of LOI decision September 24, 2025
  • Deadline to submit full application October 21, 2025
  • Anticipated notice of funding decision November 26, 2025

To be eligible for DHCH Foundation’s 2025/2026 community grant opportunity, initiatives and programs must support mental health and/or addictions services for youth and/or adults in Delta. Applicants must:

  • Be compatible with DHCH Foundation’s mission and vision
  • Support mental health and/or addictions services for adults and youth in Delta
  • Be a non-profit organization with a BC Society Number or a Charitable Registration Number
  • Provide services that benefit Delta residents
  • Have operating costs that do not exceed over 25% of the total budget 
  • Have overhead costs that do not exceed over 25% of the total budget

Funding is not normally awarded for:

  • For-profit businesses
  • Political initiatives
  • Direct grants to individuals
  • Research projects
  • Travel expenses or attendance at professional development events
  • Organizations, initiatives, or programs that discriminate based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected by local, provincial, or federal law
  • Religious organizations who serve primarily their membership and/or their direct religious purposes
  • An organization’s operating expenses over 25% of total budget
  • An organization’s debt retirements or deficits

Budget Restrictions (Capital & Operating Costs)

Capital, operating, and overhead expenses will be considered on an individual basis and must be clearly detailed on the budget.  This may include:

  • Operating costs to a maximum of 10% of the total project budget
  • Overhead costs to a maximum of 10% of the total project budget
  • Capital construction expenses of a project up to 25%, and capital equipment costs will be considered at the discretion of the DHCH Foundation Caring for our Community Grant Program committee on an application basis *Wages for program-specific staff (outside of organization’s salary or operating costs) are permitted.

Before Beginning

Please review our Grant Guidelines and Eligibility Checklist to ensure that your project/initiative/organization meets our funding criteria.

Review the Grant Preparation document to assist you in gathering your information to complete the online grant application.

Step One: Complete the Letter of Intent (LOI) A letter of intent is required for an application to be considered complete. Applications that are submitted without the completion of an LOI within the required time frame will not be considered for funding. Each LOI will be acknowledged via email, and eligible projects will be invited to submit a full application through email correspondence.

Step Two: Complete Full Application (by invitation only) Applicants who have submitted a successful LOI will be invited to submit a full application to DHCH Foundation. Each application form must be fully completed and submitted within the allotted timeframe. Please note: No late applications will be accepted.

The following documentation must be submitted along with completed applications:

  • Project budget
  • Operating budget
  • Financial Statement from previous year
  • Organization chart or list of staff members & Board of Directors (if applicable)
  • Letters of support (client testimonials, allied professionals, city officials) (minimum two)

Incomplete Applications

Applications missing information or submitted without the appropriate signatures will not be considered. Applications may be re-submitted with resolved errors (if done so within the intake dates). Late Applications will not be accepted. If you have missed the intake period, we ask that you apply during the next application period.

Letter of Intent

Letters of Intent will be reviewed to determine eligibility. Decision letters will be sent to all applicants via email.

Full Application

Applications will be reviewed to ensure that they are sufficiently completed before being presented to the DHCH Foundation Caring for our Community Grant Program committee for a formal review. This committee is comprised of DHCH Foundation representatives, Delta Hospital Administration and staff. All applications undergoing the formal review process will be evaluated by using a standardized rubric, ensuring that each application is reviewed with the same criteria and measurements in mind.

Decision Notice

Each applicant will receive notification of DHCH Foundation’s funding decision in writing, regardless of approval or denial of application. If successful, applicants will receive an approval letter with important information about funding conditions and requests from DHCH Foundation. Please note that all decisions made by DHCH Foundation are final, and no discussion will be had about reasons for approval or denial. Additionally, no material used in the decision-making process will be released or discussed with applicants. Application material becomes the property of DHCH Foundation.

Requests Of Grant Recipients

  1. Recognition: DHCH Foundation requests that successful applicants provide at least two recognition opportunities in honour of receiving funding from the Caring for our Community Grant Program.
  2. . In order to use the DHCH Foundation logo, please contact [email protected] to obtain logo files. These recognition materials must be approved by DHCH Foundation before publishing. Final copies will be kept on file to ensure that organizations meet DHCH Foundation’s funding requests.
  3. Reporting: DHCH Foundation also requests that all funded applicants provide a stewardship report one year after funding has been completed, demonstrating how the Caring for our Community Grant benefitted the program/project/initiative. If the project is approved as a multi-year funding request, stewardship reports are to be provided to DHCH Foundation each year of funding.

Responsibility Of Grant Recipients

  • Successful Community Grant recipients are expected to carry out their program/initiative/project as outlined in their application. If changes become necessary, DHCH Foundation requires that a written request be made to DHCH Foundation before any such alterations are made. Failure to do so could nullify the funding agreement made between the recipient and DHCH Foundation.
  • Successfully funded initiatives/projects/programs are expected to be completed within the timeframe included in the successful application. We understand that adjustments are sometimes necessary, though, and require that written extension requests are submitted to DHCH Foundation for approval three months prior to the original end date.
  • DHCH Foundation is grateful to receive recognition for funding. When including DHCH Foundation’s logo on marketing materials, we require content to be submitted for approval in advance of publication.
  • Grant recipients may be requested to present to the Caring for our Community Grant Program committee or to the DHCH Foundation Board of Directors.
  • The Caring for our Community Grant Program committee and DHCH Foundation staff appreciate the opportunity to make site visits to witness the success of funded initiatives firsthand.
  • In some cases, DHCH Foundation may request permission to feature your project and story in DHCH Foundation’s marketing and communications content.
