The Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society donates $800,000 to Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation in support of priority equipment needs

The Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society (DHAS) has made a donation of $800,000 to the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation (DHCH Foundation) to support priority equipment needs at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care.

The Auxiliary’s exceptional donation towards critical equipment needs will have an incredible impact on enhancing patient care in Surgical Services, Emergency Department, Mountain View Manor, and Medical Floor. As technology advances, equipment ages, and Delta Hospital’s services are expanded, it is essential to replace and upgrade the equipment available to Delta Hospital’s healthcare workers.

Notably, DHAS’ generous donation will fund a new Ophthalmic Surgical Microscope System for Delta Hospital’s Surgical Department. Each year, over 1,000 cataract surgeries are performed at Delta Hospital. By obtaining a new Ophthalmic Microscope, surgeons will have enhanced visualization of each structure in the eye, allowing them to distinguish between different tissue layers and maintain sufficient depth perception. As a result, access to this microscope will increase precision and efficiency of procedures, ensuring that patients receive quick and highly effective care.

DHAS has been a tremendous supporter of Delta Hospital since 1969 through volunteer services, patient care and comfort, and funding through entrepreneurial efforts. As one of B.C.’s most successful hospital auxiliaries, the DHAS has over 300 volunteers who donate nearly 60,000 hours of their time each year, working at the Auxiliary’s businesses – Dogwood Gift Shop, Courtyard Café, both located in the lobby of Delta Hospital and the Thrift Shop located in Ladner Village.

“The Auxiliary is thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with the Foundation,” says Maureen Mooney, President, Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society. “Through our collaboration, great things can be accomplished – patients experience top-of-the-line care and Delta’s incredible hospital staff have access to updated equipment. We are thankful for the hard work of our volunteers that made this gift possible and continue to uphold our commitment to the community every day.”

“We are honoured to work with the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society to help provide the best healthcare possible at the Delta Hospital Campus. We are incredibly grateful for this remarkable gift that will purchase critical equipment needs for multiple departments throughout the hospital,” says Jodi Stokes, Leadership and Legacy Manager, Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation. “We look forward to continuing our important partnership with the Auxiliary as we collectively support the Delta Hospital Campus of Care to strengthen healthcare in our community.”
