Dear Premier Eby,
On behalf of the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation we are writing to request clarification regarding the construction timeline for the Delta Long-Term Care (LTC) project, particularly considering the recent provincial budget announcement. Early site work is well on its way and $15 million has been spent to date.
The Delta LTC project was the first long-term care initiative announced post‑COVID. Our community was proud to see Delta recognized early as a priority for renewed long-term care capacity. The need for this project has only grown more urgent over the past several years, and the people of Delta, especially seniors and families, are depending on its timely delivery.
The Foundation, our donors, and our volunteers are deeply committed to supporting this project. To date, donor support has committed to contribute over $18 million specifically toward the LTC project. This is a powerful demonstration of our community’s belief in the importance of high-quality, accessible long-term care in Delta.
As a reminder, we also funded 50% of the project cost for the new Peter C. and Elizabeth Toigo Diagnostic Services Building- $7.5M, which opened in 2020.
In addition to our commitment to this and the LTC project, the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation are also committed to:
This past year we also provided funding to support:
These investments represent tens of millions of dollars raised by our community to strengthen local healthcare and support the Province’s system-wide health priorities. Delta has repeatedly demonstrated its willingness to step up, partner, and invest in critical healthcare infrastructure.
Given this ongoing commitment, we respectfully request updated information and clarity regarding the construction timeline, current status, and next steps for the LTC project. Our donors, stakeholders, and community members are eager for assurance that this essential project remains on track and that Delta continues to be recognized as a priority within the provincial planning framework.
The Delta Hospital Campus of Care supports all of Delta and Tsawwassen First Nations, as well as surrounding communities. Statistics show that our site is increasingly being relied on for healthcare services. This is putting added pressure on our site. Delta is a growing community, and our citizens deserve clear communication, transparency, and timely action.
We hope you will provide the clarity our community needs and deserves. We welcome the opportunity to discuss the project further and look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Andrew Jackson
