Beedie Long Term Care Centre Moves Forward as Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation Reaches $18.25M Fundraising Milestone in Record Time

A bold new chapter in senior care is unfolding at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care. In 2023, Fraser Health Authority announced plans to construct and operate a state-of-the-art, 200-bed long-term care community on the hospital’s vacant land. Today, Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation (DHCH Foundation) proudly announces the successful completion of its most ambitious fundraising campaign to date—raising an extraordinary $18.25 million to support this transformative project.

“Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we have reached our original goal of $18.25 million in under two years of launching our campaign,” said Lisa Hoglund, Executive Director, DHCH Foundation. “Our community’s unwavering commitment has made this vision a reality in record time. While we’ve achieved our initial goal, there is still an opportunity to contribute and help ensure the highest standard of care for our seniors.”

The campaign’s success was driven by remarkable generosity, including a record-breaking $5 million gift from Ryan and Cindy Beedie. In recognition of this landmark contribution, the new facility will be named the Beedie Long Term Care Centre. The Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society also made an exceptional $3 million donation, further demonstrating the community’s deep-rooted dedication to enhancing care for seniors.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am incredibly proud of this tremendous accomplishment and the profound impact this project will have on our community,” said Andrew Jackson, Board Chair, DHCH Foundation. “Thanks to our generous donors, construction is now underway, and we are one step closer to redefining the standard of senior living in Delta.”

The new long-term care community will replace the aging Mountain View Manor, which opened in 1977 and currently serves 92 residents. The new facility will more than double capacity and offer a modern, home-like environment with inviting living rooms, dining areas, activity spaces, and access to the outdoors. It will also include a 32-space adult day program and an innovative 49-space child daycare facility, fostering opportunities for intergenerational programming.

Early construction has begun, starting with site preparation and parking modifications. The east gravel parking lot at Delta Hospital will be temporarily closed for approximately two months while it is being paved.
