Monica Bohm is a proud monthly donor who along with her husband, Marcelo, have been part of our Helping Hearts Club since 2014. She is passionate about supporting critical healthcare services to families close to home. Monica believes that being a Helping Hearts Club member is beneficial as it ensures that the Foundation has steady and reliable sources of income that can support projects at Delta Hospital.
“Delta Hospital is part of the fabric of our community, and it has supported our family over the 25 years that we have lived in South Delta,” says Monica. “We wanted to help sustain the hospital services right here in Delta and see these services expand to meet the needs of our growing population and healthcare needs.”
Her family’s relationship with Delta Hospital started when her kids were young and were diagnosed with peanut allergies as well as the usual childhood illnesses and injuries. They always received timely, caring, high quality service and support at the hospital. Her kids are now grown up but her relationship with Delta Hospital has evolved. It is now a place that provides regular healthcare to their maturing parents and aunt. Having healthcare services available nearby, including the expansion of the Peter C. and Elizabeth Toigo Diagnostic Services Building, means that they no longer have to travel for tests and procedures which becomes increasingly important for our seniors.
Monica believes in the importance of Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation in particular because it helps to provide new healthcare services at Delta Hospital as well as ensuring that the very best equipment and facilities are available to serve the Delta community. In September 2020, she joined the DHCHF Board of Directors.
“Without the Foundation’s efforts and the generosity of the Delta community to support it, our hospital wouldn’t be able to offer the excellent care and extensive services that we have today,” says Monica. “Government can’t fund all these services without the help of the Foundation.”
