Last year, TB Vets Charitable Foundation granted DHCHF with $7,798 for a new portable chest suction unit for Delta Hospital’s busy Respiratory Therapy Department.
The compact unit provides regulated negative pressure close to the patient’s chest tube, based on the patient’s air leak. It monitors the air leak and only applies the suction required to maintain the negative pressure prescribed and set by the managing physician. The digital display provides objective data in real time by quantifying the air leak in ml/min as well as 24-hr historical graph of the air leak, which allows for easy tracking of the therapy progress.
Since 1999, TB Vets has awarded Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation with approximately $179,000 towards critical respiratory related equipment for Delta Hospital. We want to thank TB Vets for their dedication to transforming individual lives by funding critical respiratory equipment, research and education in British Columbia.
